The Flaws of Okonkwo
People handle with worry at slightly point in their lives. Its that constant worry around a certain something. It is comparable that inner conscience that wint stop contradicting what wholeness is thinking, or like a constant itch that wint go away. business concern can get in the way of accomplishments, and in the novel, Things wane Apart by Chinua Achebe, reverence is what keeps Okonkwo from his good fortune, which is his tragic flaw. The choices he makes are out of affrightfulness of being perceived as a failure and weak. Okonkwos perplex, Unoka, sprouts the seeds of fear for Okonkwo. Unoka is looked down upon in his kindred for his laziness and Okonkwo feels ashamed, and he in truth wants respect from the clan. This motivates him to strive for success, wealth and respect, unlike his father. Events such as Okonkwo beating his wives, killing Ikemefuna and the gaberdine messenger conclude with Okonkwo committing suicide. These events are driven by fear.\nUnoka is t he study influence on how Okonkwo developed in his childhood. The festering fear of being looked down upon is a struggle for Okonkwo to deal with. Okonkwo did non drive the explode in life that many new-fangled men usu in ally have . But in anguish of these disadvantages, he had begun even in his fathers life history to lay the foundations of a sluttish future. (16-18). Okonkwo does not have what all the former(a) men started off with and is being laughed at as a result. He blames his father for his fear of failure at the beginning of his life. \nThe first conviction Okonkwo makes a bad end is when he doesnt administer an elders advice and kills Ikemefuna. He does it out of fear of what the other men in the crowd and in his clan go away think if he doesnt kill him. When Ikemefuna joins Okonkwos family, Okonkwo never thinks that he will start to love Ikemefuna like star of his own children. Okonkwo was inwardly prosperous at his sons development and he knew it was out-of-pocket to Ikemefuna. He wanted Nwoye to grow into a tough teen man...
